Introductory part of the book exclusively deals about the urban development in India under the Mughals, we have a wealth of detailed data from the large number of European visitors as also from indigenous sources. It was difficult to incorporate each and every aspect of the urban centres as a major town. This book tries to depict the European travelers opinion about the towns and port-towns from various point of views and also discusses themes of European writers about the condition, lay out of the town and its population, their standard of living, location and role of rulers and nobility in trade activities like export-import and financing, used in Mughal India.

Dr. Sagufta Parveen is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Education and Research, Mangalayatan University, Aligarh, India. She has completed Ph.D. in History (2016) from Department of History & Center of Advanced Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. Her research area is focused on Medival History.
