It belongs to the genre of Jùjú music, which is a Yoruba variant of the urban West African palmwine guitar tradition. The intention of this paper is not to do an ethnomusicological analysis but rather to approach the textual content concerning its explicit as well as implicit topics.

Marc Bonenberger is a public health expert at the Swiss Centre for International Health, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Basel, Switzerland. His current work focuses on research in the area of human resource development, specifically on attrition and retention of health workers in resource-poor settings. He is experienced in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Academically he is equipped with a PhD in Epidemiology and a Master in African Studies, both from the University of Basel.
