The book mainly focuses on issues of identity of immigrants in Bharati Mukherjees novels from Tigers Daughter (1972) to the Tree Bride (2004). Bharati Mukherjee, herself being an immigrant, explains the immigrant sensibility in her works. Since no full length study of Bharati Mukherjees fiction with a special reference to identity issues has been made, this book may go a long way in analyzing younger generations identity issues who are trying to realize their dreams in America.

Dr Shilpa Murugesh is teaching English since 2005 to Under-graduate, Post-graduate and Management students. She earned a Master of Arts (MA) in English and awarded a Ph.D. in English from Kuvempu University, Karnataka, India. She has published several articles on English Literature in National and International Journals and Conferences.
