Architects had used the opportunity of multiplying their professional knowledge since the printing arts became prevalent. The first printed architectural professional books followed the ancient work of the great original foregoer, Marcus Vitruvius Pollio. The following collection is a list of books, which the designers, master builders, builders or just anybody interested in the principles and practice of architecture could read, study or follow from the beginnings of the art of printing up to the First World War.

Attila Déry was born in 1954 (Budapest, Hungary). Architect (1979), C.Sc. (1999), Dr. Habil (2011). Works on new buildings, design and restauration of ancient monuments too. Investigates old buildings. Teaches architectural history at the Univ. of Technology of Budapest. Wrote several books: about history of old materials, historical structures.
