The State of Jammu and Kashmir is situated in a remote and backward corner of India, It was among the pioneers, barring a few in the Southern and the Western India,like Hyderabad,Mysore,Travancore and Baroda in princely India in introducing democratic institutions, legislatures, first,with elected members and then,with an elected majority It is a general impression that the monarchy and the democracy are unparallel things and hence cannot proceed together.

Dr.Anu Mankotia obtained a Master's degree in History from the University of Jammu which was followed up with doctorate from the same University.She served in Law college and at present working as Assistant Professor in Jammu University. Presented many papers in National and International seminars on Jammu and Kashmir polity.
