With The DrumThe Crickets Verses, Njokus poetic universe blossoms into a full vision with a critical outlook toward Africa and humanity and that has dovetailed into a formidable body of philosophy which could be called poetic praxis. This rainbow collection offers multiple dimensions and perspectives to the poets concerns. It is an absolute expression of passion for humanity locked in temporal space by extraneous circumstances, and yet bound in the adventure of becoming. In its epic setting, concepts such as nature, society, love, terrestrial existence, metaphysics and God assume peculiar expressions triggering off polemics and the poet provides laid down premises, leaving the logic and the appreciation of the work open.
Autorenporträt
Anthony Njoku hails from Mbaise, Imo state, Nigeria. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, University of Port Harcourt, author of Africa and other Poems, Ideological Perspectives in Armah and Kourouma's Historical Novels, L'Aigle et le Lapin (poésie), En Quête du Bonheur, "The Mansion" and "The Contract".
