Time is also a mask/ Like the absent-minded ink spot/ It is an innocent sin in the white sheets of paper/ As if its been locked up and the key is thrown away/ Everyrthing is the same in the garden of memories/ Disintegration of bodies/ Memories of a sedentary life/ The ivy spares not its venom/ You go away with your well ironed shirt/ I realize having saved more than necessary,/ When death is the matter/ Even death has hardly to be trusted/ Time is also a mask/ Like the absent-minded ink spot/ It is an innocent sin in the white sheets of paper.

Poet and translator. Born in 1963, Tozan Alkan studied at GalatasarayHigh School before graduating from the Faculty ofBusiness Administration of Bogaziçi University. Atpresent, he is an instructor at Istanbul University,School of Foreign Languages. He is a member of Turkish Writers's Union and Translators Association.
